Big Data in a Box COO and CTO Laxmi Katragadda presents his business during a Startup Factory program session at the ISU Research Park.

AMES, Iowa (January 25, 2019) – The Iowa State University Startup Factory (SUF) today announced Big Data in a Box (BDiB) attended the Practical Farmers of Iowa’s 2019 annual conference held January 17 – 19 at the Iowa State Center, Scheman Building in Ames. BDiB’s team, CEO Dr. Sree Nilakanta, COO and CTO Laxmi Katragadda, and CMO Jean Van den Heuvel are members of SUF’s Cohort 5, which is just entering the second half of its 52-week intensive program.

BDiB’s state of the art technology solution for organic farmers enables and saves time in the collection, retention, and use of data for organic certification, compliance, and operations planning—in the farmer’s office and out in the field.

At the conference, BDiB demonstrated how its system can help organic farmers collect and handle their data for filing for certification. Once they have that data, BDiB’s software applications will help them manage it more efficiently to improve their farm operations.

“Both the event and BDiB’s booth were well-attended by farmers from multiple areas of the state and beyond,” Van den Heuvel said. “We were proud to serve as representatives of the ISU Startup Factory, and to have this excellent opportunity to showcase how our technology will greatly benefit organic farmers. Our prototype was very well received, and we invite farmers interested in hearing more about the product or in becoming beta testers to contact us.”
